GOALS FOR 2009-2010
Scottsdale Parent
Council promotes communication and cooperation between Scottsdale
Unified School District parents, administration, and staff; monitors
district services; and advocates for the highest quality of
education for all students attending school in the district.
Goal 1: Support Increased Funding for Education Support renewal of the 2009 K-3 Override. Educate
parents about voting, candidates, legislative process, and education
issues related to state funding. Encourage district to educate
community about ballot measures as they apply to education funding.
Encourage district to communicate fiscal situation of the district.
Continue to build relationships with elected officials. Educate
parents on how to become involved in influencing education
legislation.
Goal 2: Promote Effective Communication and Raise Awareness of
Scottsdale Parent Council
Promote Scottsdale Parent Council at school and complex events.
Actively recruit parent leaders to serve on Scottsdale Parent
Council, especially from the Saguaro and Coronado complexes.
Personally invite Scottsdale Parent Council representatives to
meetings. Promote dissemination of SPC information by requesting
links on all school and PTO websites to Scottsdale Parent Council
website, providing meeting summaries to all school representatives,
and attending one PTO meeting at every school. Have a greeter at
every Scottsdale Parent Council meeting.
Goal 3: Support Parent Involvement in District Choices Support excellence in all District staff
with parent input and involvement. Assist with parent participation
on District policy committees.
Goal 4: Promote Academic Equity and Build Community across the
District
Advocate for academic excellence on every campus and every level.
Support intra-district videoconference teaching and e-learning
opportunities. Promote enrollment at schools that have space
through specialized programs.
Goal 5: Continue to Build Community and District Partnerships
Foster relationship with Chamber of Commerce and ensure appropriate
participation in Chamber meetings. Educate parents about variety of
programs in schools such as arts, special education, gifted, and
character development programs. |
